ANZAP will be offering two reading groups in the Conversational Model throughout 2013.

In 2013 we will be reading:

(1) Russell Meares: The Metaphor of Play: Origins and Breakdown of Personal Being. Third
Edition, Routledge (2005)
Mondays 6.30 – 8.00pm 28 Jan – 15 April 2013

(2) Selected readings from Robert Hobson: Forms of Feelings: The Heart of Psychotherapy.
Routledge (1985)
Mondays 6.30 – 8.00pm 7 Oct – 11 Nov 2013

These groups are for people with no or some knowledge of the Conversational Model.

Max: 10 people (please book early)

Group 1 - $200 for the course
Group 2 - $150 for the course

PD Hours:

PD Event - "Let's Talk About Sex"
Education Development Centre, Hindmarsh

Presenter: Dianne Ervine

The workshop will explore what the therapist/counsellor requires to consider discussing sexual issues with clients.  Topics will include:

  • The range of Sexual Concerns
  • An overview of contemporary models and approaches when treating sexual issues which includes psycho/social and medical, Eastern and Western.
  • What we bring to the process, our values, beliefs, taboos and comfort level as a sexual being.
  • Sexual Myths and Expectations that get in the way.
  • What makes for a satisfying sexual experience/relationship?
  • Sexual History Taking and Assessment

The workshop will be interactive with small group discussions and time for asking questions.  Participants will be able to explore these topics and how to work with clients in a range of different scenarios.
Understand and challenge your own perceptions and learn how to do the same with your clients when we learn to talk about sex.
