Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP)

The Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) has been a leader in applied psychology education in Australia for more than 28 years. It offers courses in Counselling, Psychology, Case Management. Coaching and People Management.
ACAP is a registered higher education provider (HEP) and nationally registered training organisation (RTO). Its higher education Counselling degrees are professionally accredited by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

The College has a range of courses to meet both career development and professional development needs:

ACAP has a range of educational programs, from diplomas and bachelors to Graduate Diplomas and Masters. Students can choose on-campus study, flexible online learning or a combination of both. The College offers small class sizes and its teaching staff includes researchers and practitioners in the field.

Students who complete any of the PACFA accredited courses will meet the training requirements for eligibility to apply for CASA Professional membership, subject to completion of the required amount of counselling hours and counselling supervision.

The University of Adelaide

PACFA accredited courses:

- Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy

This program prepares students for a career in counselling by introducing them to the theoretical foundation and practical skills required. It offers a unique combination of up-to-date theoretical knowledge and practical skills in counselling and psychotherapy. Theoretical perspectives are balanced by application of techniques and approaches, resulting in experiential and integrated learning results.

Students must also allow up to two and a half days each week for a Counselling placement in their second year of study (or equivalent). A research pathway that provides a suitable background for PhD candidacy is also available.

Australian Institute of Family Counselling (AIFC)

PACFA accredited courses:

- Vocational Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Family Therapy (Christian)
  (pre-requisite training must also be completed)

AIFC offers a range of counselling training courses which are designed specifically for those pursuing a career in family counselling. Students who complete the Advanced Diploma of Counselling and Family Therapy (Christian), followed by the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Family Therapy (Christian) will meet the PACFA Training Standard for eligibility to apply for CASA Professional membership, subject to completion of the required amount of counselling hours and counselling supervision.

Tabor Adelaide

PACFA accredited courses:

- Master of Counselling Practice

The Master of Counselling Practice has a high emphasis on supervised practice, facilitated by a clinical placement, regular case conferences, reflective teams and intensive one-on-one quality supervision. Dedicated facilities at Life Design Counselling are fully equipped for students to conduct counselling sessions in a supportive learning environment.
In compliance with PACFA requirements, graduates will need to have completed 200 hours of client contact with 50 hours of supervision.

Course Duration: 2 years full time or equivalent part time.
Location: External (online) or on Campus: Adelaide and Perth
Intake: February and July
Entry Requirements: Successful completion of a three-year Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 5.0 or approved equivalent.

CASA does not formally endorse or accredit any training programs. PACFA is responsible for the process of accrediting psychotherapy and counselling programs and those that they have accredited can be found on the PACFA website.
