Student Membership

Student Membership is available to any person:
  • who is a student enrolled in a university or government accredited training in counselling or psychotherapy, working towards satisfying the training requirements for Intern or higher membership.

Intern Membership

Intern Membership is available to any person for a maximum of three years:
  • who has completed training that satisfies requirements for Professional or Clinical membership, but is still in the process of completing the required practicum hours to meet Professional or Clinical membership requirements.

Professional Membership

Professional Membership is available following completion of: 

  • counselling training of either an undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) which includes a minimum of 350 contact hours of focused counselling training over 3 years, or a postgraduate qualification which includes a minimum of 200 hours over 2 years, and
  • counselling practice which includes 50 hours of training supervision relating to 200 hours of direct client contact

$340.00 per year

Clinical Membership

Clinical Membership is available to CASA's Professional Members via one of three different pathways, following completion of a minimum of 75 hours of post-training supervision relating to a minimum of 750 hours of direct client contact.

Affiliate Membership

Affiliate Membership is available to any person who is neither privately practising nor employed as a counsellor or psychotherapist, and -
  • who having been a member has retired from practice, or
  • who works in an allied profession or occupation that involves aspects of counselling but who does not satisfy requirements for national provisional registration as outlined in the Association By-Laws, or
  • who supports the objectives of the Association but is ineligible for any other category of membership.

Honorary Membership

Honorary Membership may be conferred by the Association on a counsellor who has attained distinction in the field of counselling, or given outstanding service to the Association
